Volunteering and women’s economic empowerment
The canadian organisation CECI has published a study on women’s economic empowerment, with the specific case of the shea-butter and rice parboiling subsectors in Burkina Faso.
The study focused on two coaching initiatives developed by Uniterra (a Canadian voluntary cooperation and international development program). These initiatives were undertaken during 10 years, and aimed at improving women’s economic conditions through the professionalization of their activities, but also included support/structuring of women’s groups and unions and organizational management.
How have these initiatives brought change to the women’s lives ? to their social and financial situation ?
